Project Guidelines

1. Introduction and Purpose of the Project

As part of the MBA curriculum, students are required to undertake a project during their final semester in their chosen area of specialisation. The project is an essential component of the MBA programme and provides students with an opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge to practical business situations. The study should focus on a relevant organisational or management-related subject and demonstrate an understanding of real-world business practices.

2. Scope and Nature of the Study

The project must be an original research study with practical application. Students should select a topic that addresses a specific organisational requirement, business challenge or management-related issue. The research should demonstrate how the findings can contribute to organisational improvement, better decision-making or enhanced operational efficiency. The study must highlight its relevance to the organisation’s day-to-day functioning or a specific area of the student’s MBA specialisation.

Students may collect primary data through personal observation or gather secondary data from organisational records and other information shared by the organisation where the research is conducted.

3. Structure of the Project Report

The project report should follow the prescribed structure:

  • Introduction: Provide an overview of the selected research topic based on the student’s MBA specialisation. Explain the relevant concepts and practices in the context of the organisation selected for the study.

  • Background of the Organisation: Include the organisation’s name, location, organisational structure and existing systems related to the research topic. Clearly explain the problem or issue identified for investigation.

  • Research Methodology: This is the core section of the project. Clearly define the research problem, objectives, scope and practical usefulness of the study. Explain how the findings can help the organisation improve its performance.

  • Review of Literature: Include relevant previous research and studies conducted on the selected subject to establish a foundation for the research.

  • Data Presentation and Analysis: Present collected information using suitable tables, graphs, flowcharts and other relevant formats. Discuss existing organisational practices, newly introduced practices, and analyse their impact on current systems.

  • Conclusions and Recommendations: Draw conclusions based on the research findings and provide practical recommendations. Wherever possible, quantify the expected benefits, including potential cost savings, improved processes and other organisational improvements.

  • Limitations: Clearly mention any limitations encountered during the research.

4. Important Guidelines for Report Preparation

Students must write the project report in simple, clear and grammatically correct English. Follow the prescribed report structure carefully. The research problem and objectives must be clearly defined without ambiguity. References, bibliography and a list of tables must be included. Students should also attach a certificate from their project guide and an acknowledgement section recognising individuals who provided support during the project.

5. Project Report Length and Formatting

The project report should be approximately 30–35 pages minimum. The title page must contain the project title in block capital letters, properly centred at the top. The candidate’s full name should appear in capital letters, along with the enrolment number and programme name in the centre section.

Academic Integrity and Plagiarism

Projects containing copied content from ChatGPT, AI tools, or other external sources may receive ZERO MARKS as per the university’s academic integrity and plagiarism policy. Students must ensure that their projects are 100% customised, original, and plagiarism-free, based on their selected specialisation, research objectives, and individual understanding. All references and sources must be properly acknowledged.
